Table Runner Quilt As You Go
Quilt as you go table runners.
Table runner quilt as you go. Automatically quilt as you sew. Sometimes this technique gets stuck with only strip fabric. When you re looking for a quick project quilt as you go on the overlocker is about as quick as it gets. If you are ready to try a new technique the quilt as you go technique a quick small project like a table runner is a great project to start with.
You re going to begin assembling your table runner now. Iron your batting if it was a wadded up remnant like mine on a low heat setting. Be careful not to stretch it out of shape. You can make a reversible quilted table runner if you pick a pretty fabric for the back.
I lay and pin the first strip about an inch or so from the raw edge of the batting. Once i started sewing i was pleasantly surprised how they sew up. To make this runner you ll need 9 5 inch squares you ll need 3 2 x 42 inch strips of fabric in one color and one 2 strip x 42 inch strip for another color then for the binding you ll need 3 2 inch by 42 inch strips. Easy as 1 2 3 stitch up all the layers of a quilted table runner in no time.
Now i sew it down on the outer edge of the strip at 1 4 seam allowance. Available in three patterns printed on cotton poly batting. Start by taking your first strip and laying it right side up on your layered backing and batting. You can sew just enough to understand the process but it s not a huge project to overwhelm you either.
